At to the Bobiverse, I saw that he has a contract with Audible, so his books come out there first. With the text versions coming out several months later (120 days is what I’ve read). That would make it early January when the Kindle versions might be coming out.
Thanks for that! I’ll wait impatiently. 🙂
RE: Phone tracking
Since airplane mode shuts down the cell transmitters, it should stop the phone from pinging towers. WiFi can be turned on separately but there is a warning (on my Pixel) that some apps may still scan for WiFi networks even when WiFi is off – BUT – there is a setting to change that.
Obviously, this process makes a cell phone less useful but incoming calls would be diverted to voice mail that could be retrieved when airplane mode is turned off.
There might be a way to retrieve voice mail via an internet connection?
Depends on your carrier, but typically yes. In my case I have my phone “no-answer forward” to a Google Voice number which is set to do not disturb, and thus takes voicemail immediately. Not only can I access this online, but it’s also configured to send me email with a transcript.
I use Tweetdeck ( now called X pro) to not get exposed to Twitter algorithm
Almost 70% of the people I follow on Twitter are not on Bluesky or Mastadon
I know tweetdeck is paid but it works for me
Why do not you use that?
I used tweetdeck back in the day. It’s not something I would pay for (especially not Musk), and most of the people I care about are on other platforms now.
Hey Leo, about the power failure, Good News! …
I was without power from 6:51 AM on Friday 09/27/2024 until 8:52 PM on Monday 9/30/2024 due to Hurricane Helene (63 hours). Friday afternoon when I finally thought of it, I ran power cords from my Ioniq 6 up the stairs to my Refrigerator, microwave, TV (I have an antenna), Box Fan in BR, Tankless gas hot water heater (electric ignition only), and Coffee maker. When power was restored My battery had dropped from 80% to 58%. I was flabbergasted to have only used 22% of my battery capacity.
