Gary and KAY made comments in the Internet Archive question that it could help some authors or musicians get better known and thus benefit them.
Isn’t that the same theory I used to hear from software pirates in the 80’s?
Some musicians will put a few things out on the internet for the ability to get people who wouldn’t buy their work to hear it.
I know a small author that uses Amazon’s publishing system that authorized free downloads of the first book for a period of time for the same reason. The difference is that he wanted people to get “word of mouth” publicity and reviews published on Amazon and also hoped that people would want the paper copy of that book along with the next one (juvenile fantasy that started out as bed time stories for his sons).
What’s wrong with WhatsApp for video calling? Everyone I know has the app.
Nothing wrong with it. But not everyone has it. Does it do multi-person calls? I was under the impression it only did one-to-one?
John, we have different circles of friends. No one I know has whatsapp.
I use around 4 different programs for work, depending on who sets up the meeting and if they are from a different company.
My wife teaches piano for a music school that set up the paid version of Zoom. She is very non-tech oriented. She was able to use Zoom immediately and I was able to talk her through setting up the free version for her private students and she was able to set up scheduled meetings on her own. Yesterday, she set up a call (without any help from me) with her 80 year old father who is even less tech savvy.
Zoom is becoming a go to for communicating because it is very FLEXIBLE and EASY.
We may set up a multi household link with zoom for Easter.
